The premise of Found Magazine is simple: people send in things they found.* These items range from todo lists to love letters to discarded fifth grade algebra tests, and the only thing that unites them is their unintentional humor and pathos. Here are some examples.

Found was "found"ed (haha ow) by Davey Rothbart, a charismatic and passionate kid from Ann Arbor. He's been traveling around the country promoting his magazine, and more recently his new book. I laughed till tears were in my eyes last time he came, and while last night's event suffers slightly by comparison, it was still a lot of fun. It was both the kick off of Davey's new tour and the 2nd anniversary of Found's inception, so free beer and wine were in abundance. If I had my way, all literary events would have booze. (Of course, if I had my way, all literary events would have fire-breathing midgets and pony rides.)

In addition to reading excerpts from Found and a great story ("Lie Big") from his new book, Davey also had his brother sing some tunes. The best song of the night was undoubtedly the tender and sensitive acoustic rendition of "Damn The Booty Won't Stop", based on a comical found love letter containing the eponymous phrase.

The Found Magazine tour is now headed your way, so if you get a chance you should check it out. If you go, please send me the full lyrics to Damn The Booty Won't Stop, because I can't find them anywhere on the web.

* If "Found" were run by cats, it would consist mostly of dead animals. Of course, it would also be financially insolvent in a matter of weeks, so it's probably for the best that there's no cats involved.
