Oh man, I realized that last entry just stopped mid-sentence. What a cliffhanger. If only I could remember what the hell I was talking about.

We had our bookclub meeting on Sunday. The book was Blindness by Jos Saramago.

The way our book club works is, we all take turns picking which book we'll be reading that month. Here's the breakdown by person/title. We've been doing it long enough that some of us have had the chance to pick two.

Elio - Life of Pi
Jenny - Problem From Hell, Blindness
Me - The Wasp Factory, American Gods
Az - God: A Biography
David - A Heart So White
Cosmo - Complications

Notice that the first book Jenny picked was a history of genocide, while her second book depicts a plague of blindness. At this rate, it won't be long before we're all wearing gothic makeup and listening to Joy Division.

Blindness was actually a pretty good book. The premise is that if a plague of blindess did sweep the nation, society would break down in a matter of weeks. Like that movie 28 Days-- and by the way, if you are interested in the topic, check out the straight dope on the question: When the zombies take over, how long till the electricity fails?

We painted our bathroom last night, and quickly realized the color we picked is hideous. At least I think so. It looked alright in the store but on the walls it's an institutional beige. Not sure how we'll salvage it, but my suggestion (burn everything) was dismissed as counterproductive.
